MassMediaBlock is a website blocker with Telegram-based accountability, available on Android, Windows and Linux. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your data. The short version: everything runs on your device, and nothing is collected by us.
Nothing. MassMediaBlock has no analytics, no advertising, no user accounts, and no servers that store your data. We, the developers, receive no information about you or your usage.
This website (not the app) uses Yandex Metrica to count visits and see how pages are used. Yandex Metrica sets cookies and records page visits, clicks and scrolling, as described in the Yandex privacy policy. You can block it with any ad or tracker blocker. The app never loads it.
All app data is stored locally on your device and never leaves it, except as described in the next section:
If you connect an accountability buddy, the app sends that buddy messages through Telegram – for example, an alert when you open a blocked site, or a request when you try to weaken the blocking. These messages go only to the single buddy you paired with. They are relayed through our Telegram bot (@massmediablockbot) purely to deliver the message; we do not store the contents. Pairing uses an anonymous random token – we do not receive your name, phone number, or Telegram account details.
On Android, blocking works through an Accessibility Service. It reads the web address shown in your browser's address bar and which app is open (to close social and short-video apps or feeds if you block them). With safe search on, it also reads the query on a search results page, so the search can be reopened with the engine's safe filter (some browsers, such as Yandex Browser, show the query instead of the address). It uses this only to show a block screen, enforce safe search and (if you set one up) notify your buddy. It does not read, collect, or transmit the contents of web pages, your messages, passwords, or other text you type. No browsing data ever leaves your device through this service.
Premium payments are handled by YooKassa (payments in rubles) and Stripe (other currencies). They process your payment under their own privacy policies. We receive whether the payment went through and your email address, which we use to send your license key and occasional product news (one-click unsubscribe in every email). We never see your card details.
MassMediaBlock is intended for adults choosing to limit their own use of news and adult websites. It is not directed at children.
